Lap Cholecystectomy
A laparoscopic or lap cholecystectomy is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the gallbladder. Instead of making a large incision, the surgeon makes a few small incisions on the right side of the abdomen. One of these incisions is used to insert a laparoscope, which is a thin tube with a camera on the end. This allows the surgeon to view the gallbladder on a screen. The gallbladder is then removed through another small incision. Compared to an open cholecystectomy, which requires a larger incision, a laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a less invasive method of gallbladder removal.
